The big move - new halls in September!

So Student Assistant again!

I found out yesterday which hall I will be moving into in September, either Matheson or Macdairmid in Founders Court.

I have been tasked with the responsibility of being the SA for both these halls, and will be ‘looking after’ over 50 first year students next year.

As SA, the role is to provide advice and guidance to the first year students, being a first port of call for any issues they may have, while also ensuring certain reasonable rules are kept to, such as keeping the halls in a relatively clean state and not blaring music and making noise until 5am when other students have lectures at 9am!

It’s a job I really enjoy doing (and must do as it will be my third year in the role!) as I get to meet new people every year, make new friends while keeping friendships with the people I have lived with in previous years.

The part I am looking forward to most is the upgrade in accommodation! I have lived in all types of accommodation on campus including the main halls, Forest Court and back halls but never any of the new buildings. So I now look forward to the luxuries of a TV in my bedroom, and en suite, and most importantly, a fridge in my bedroom!

I requested to be placed in the new halls as it is my final year and it would be nice to have experienced each varying form of on campus accommodation before I graduate and move on to living in rented houses like a lot of my friends from my first couple of years have already done. Although I have lived in Ormskirk town in a house over the summer month so have experienced every option available.

So for those of you who do end up in either Matheson or Macdairmid hall next September, I look forward to living it up in Edge Hill’s poshest halls!
